sure you should have to work for prestige armor. Oh wait...let's see. Get in a guild, get run to marhan's grotto or granite citadel, that's 4 elite armor sets right there...two for HoM. In Factions...do some missions, get to Leviathan Pits or VAsburg, or do all the missions and get to the divine path. Wowz. You still have to pay through the nose in plat and materials to get these armor sets. Same with the Norn, Dwarven, Asuran armor. You go through all this grind and still have to pay 50 plat plus stacks of materials to get this armor that isn't even unique.
What's the difference? Before GW:EN all you needed to do was explore a new area or do the missions and follow the storyline. Now, you need to repeat farm the same areas and junk and still pay a metric asston of cash...where's the prestige? Yay, I played 8 hours straight farming Varajar Fells so I could get this armor.
At least FoW was a challenge every single time you went into the UW or FoW for the materials to farm. At least the armor WAS unique enough that it was a real prestige armor set.
Now I can take my ranger to eotn, spend 8 hours farming idiot mobs with henchies and heroes and get an armor set that's almost identical to FoW armor, for a fraction of the price. This may seem like a contradiction of terms, but it's not. It cheapened FoW armor at the same time as cheapened the franchise of the game by rewarding the grinders over the casual players that this game was directed towards.

Play the game, do quests, enjoy yourselves. That way there is NO farming involved to gt armours. I only had to clear 2 areas to get rank 5 Vangaurd and that was maybe because i missed a quest or 2.
Dungeons help a lot as well as turning in your Book of Heroes and Master Dungeon Guide.
This way not every super rich or e-bayer can just go out and buy a run to the outposts and buy the armours.

also the armors look so bad that I don't really care if they require 10 or 1000 hours of grind, starter armor still looks better than starter armor reskinned by some amateur ;p

Play the game normally, explore the areas/ do the quests/ do dungeons/ play mini games. Eventually you will reach the title requirement at slower rate than those who farm points effectively.
People want to get prestige armors so easily to the point that it would make collector armor rarer than prestige armors. Id rather play Grind Wars than Clone Wars.

I attained rank 5 in dwarven faction just by completing the game and doing some dungeons during the journey.
I'm on r4 for all the other factions, without grinding/farming, just doing dungeons and playing.
What do you want? Get the armors as soon as you enter the area?
What's next? Putting all crafters in Boreal station 'cause "hey, it's boring to reach outpost X just to craft an armor"...
It's a game, what about playing it?
[sarcasm]
I'm gonna start a petition to put primeval armor crafter in Churrir Fields. Don't want to go thru NF with each char to get the primeval for each one of them...

As has been mentioned before, rank 5 is easily achievable. It's a lot easier to get to rank 5 of norn/asuran/ebon vanguard/dwarven title tracks then to get the ingredients to make your mini moa an incubator. Took me near 3.5 hours to get Skree wings and Bog Skale fins. Reaching the 5th tier of any of these title tracks doesn't take that long (if you've been following the storyline and killing beasties along the way)

I don't mind working for titles and I feel some grind is acceptable. I'm the kinda player who enjoys my achievements if I've really had to put some effort into em.
However, I just cannot bring myself to scrape walls for the cartographer titles. Having visited the areas many times, quested them, owned them, capped them, vanquished them etc. (and already around 92%) I really resent having to go through all over again in slow mo looking at walls. I really like to get some value out of my playtime, and weeks of tedium really does not cut it. Lord knows I have tried it, but after about an hour I just can't bear it any longer, and tend to go off the game for a few days.
I'd really love cartog. titles and I feel I deserve em since I have worked the areas thoroughly over and over. Please reward my skill and game-play instead of making me do something entirely non-challenging and pointless.
So...

The current title requirement is fair imo. You don't need to max those titles to get armor. You'll have more than a year to reach the titles so it should be no problem, not even for casual players.

The grind has no purpose except to piss you off. How could anyone support it? Sure it's a couple days work for a character. What if you have 8 characters? Is 16 days work so menial?

Sorry, but how many people do you see doing this? And how many people do you see running forgemaster?
See, people actually run forgemaster. But I've never seen someone farm rep points for others.

The grind keeps us playing. We see something we want, and we start farming the rep points for it. Without the grind, we simply get the armor and ask ourselves, "what now?". At least with the grind we farm the points, get the armor, then ask ourselves "what now?".

I pretty much agree.
The armor crafter armors suck in the first place. The only armor that I like is the Norn Ranger armor. Seeing as Norn title farming is pretty easy, I'll just farm and keep quite. I don't like the fact that they've done the same thing they did w/ Luxon/Kurzick title faction for this. That's the real thing to complain about. Can't have max skills for everything unless you gave your life away.

Well then what do you care if they take work or not. You can get the original skins elsewhere and not worry about the grinding ^_^
edit:
That being said, I dont agree with taking the rank off completely, I do think that the rank req should be lowered by one on each. 4 is easy to get to with the given quests and hunting constantly while questing, 5 takes a lot of time and effort after the fact.

Too easy already. You seriously think that 16 days is too much work to outfit 8 characters?? It took me about 2 weeks to get max on SS and LB titles on 1 character, and I think those are my most meaningless titles because they were so easy that anybody coule get them without any real work.
Seriously, some people actually want to enjoy the game and do not want to be given everything. I have not spent any time grinding in EotN, but have been questing and I already have rank 4 Norn, and I still have more Norn quests to do! Rank 5 is way too low. And with all the drops, if you salvage everything, you will have no problem with materials. Sure, it was better balanced so that you would get the materials and rank requirement close to the same time when it was rank 7, but I guess nobody liked that. The game is not meant to get everything you want in a week. Then it would be boring.
